Chin-Up (In Squatting Position)

Hanging from a low bar with the knees bent and the feet flat in front, pull the chin over it; the planted feet carry part of the weight.

How to do it

Setup

Underhand grip on a low bar, hips hanging below it, knees bent and feet flat on the floor in front.

Steps

  1. Pull the chest up toward the bar, feet staying planted.
  2. Bring the chin over the bar, elbows to the ribs.
  3. Lower back to straight arms, hips low again.

Common mistakes

Standing up on the legs: the feet only steady the body; the arms lift. Hips piking forward at the top: one line from knees to shoulders. Half reps: straight arms at the bottom every rep.

Breathing

Exhale on the pull, inhale lowering.
