Cable Upper Row
The seated cable row pulled high to the upper chest with the elbows raised to shoulder height; the upper back and the rear shoulders do the work instead of the lats.
How to do it
Setup
Seated tall facing the pulley set at chest height, a wide overhand grip on the bar, arms long.
Steps
- Pull the bar to the upper chest, elbows high and wide.
- Squeeze the shoulder blades together at the finish.
- Return to long arms with control.
Common mistakes
Elbows dropping toward the ribs: that is the regular row; keep them at shoulder height. Leaning back to finish: stay upright. Shrugging into the ears: blades back and down.
Breathing
Exhale on the row, inhale returning.
