Chin-Up Around the Bar

The chin-up pulled up toward one hand, moved across under the bar to the other hand at the top, and lowered on that side.

How to do it

Setup

Hanging from the bar, palms facing you, hands a little wider than the shoulders.

Steps

  1. Pull up toward one hand until the chin is by the bar.
  2. Slide across to the other hand, keeping the chin at bar height.
  3. Lower to a dead hang on that side, then start toward the other.

Common mistakes

Dropping during the traverse: stay at the top the whole way across. Kicking the legs for momentum: legs still, core tight. Skipping the dead hang: straight arms at the bottom every rep.

Breathing

Exhale on the pull, inhale on the way down.
