Cable Standing Chest Press

The chest press standing between the towers in a split stance, both handles pressed forward from chest height; the legs and trunk hold the body against the pull.

How to do it

Setup

Between the towers, cables at chest height from behind, handles at the chest, split stance.

Steps

  1. Press both handles forward until the arms are straight.
  2. Let the hands come close together in front of the chest.
  3. Return the handles to the chest under control.

Common mistakes

Being pulled back by the stack: a longer split stance and a braced trunk hold you. Elbows flaring up to shoulder height: keep them slightly below. Rocking the body forward to finish: only the arms move.

Breathing

Exhale pressing, inhale returning.
