Cable Standing Alternating Diagonal Chest Press
Standing between two pulleys at shoulder height, one hand at a time presses across the body toward the opposite shoulder line, so the chest also draws the arm inward.
How to do it
Setup
Back to the machine, cables at shoulder height from both sides, handles at the chest, feet hip-width.
Steps
- Press one hand forward and across toward the opposite shoulder.
- Return it to the chest, then press the other hand across.
- Keep the hips and shoulders facing forward throughout.
Common mistakes
Torso rotating with the crossing arm: brace; the arm crosses, the chest stays square. Pressing straight ahead: the diagonal is the variant; aim at the opposite shoulder. Standing too close to the machine: step out until the cables pull at the start.
Breathing
Exhale on each press, inhale returning.
