Cable Lying Hip Flexion (Reverse Squat)

Both feet strapped to the low pulley, on your back, draw the knees toward the chest together: the hips and knees fold as in a squat turned upside down.

How to do it

Setup

On your back, feet toward the low pulley, both ankles in the strap, legs long, arms on the floor.

Steps

  1. Draw both knees toward the chest, knees bending as the thighs rise.
  2. Stop with the thighs vertical, lower back flat.
  3. Push the legs back out slowly against the cable.

Common mistakes

Lower back lifting at the end of each return: stop the legs short of straight. Rushing the return: the cable wants to snap the legs flat; resist it. Curling the hips off the floor: the thighs stop at vertical.

Breathing

Exhale lifting, inhale lowering.
