Cable Lying Bench Single-Arm Cross Lateral Raise
The one-arm lying cross cable lateral raise on a bench: the free arm rests across the chest while the other sweeps from across the body out to the side.
How to do it
Setup
Face up on a flat bench, feet toward the pulleys, one hand on the cable from the opposite side, the free arm across the chest.
Steps
- Sweep the working arm out to the side, level with the bench.
- Keep the free arm and the hips still.
- Return the hand across the body; switch sides after the set.
Common mistakes
Rolling the hips toward the working side: the free arm and the back keep you square. Bending the working elbow: a long arm through the whole arc. Dropping the hand below the bench at the side: stop level with the pad.
Breathing
Exhale opening the arm, inhale returning.
