Cable Lateral Pulldown (with Rope Attachment)

The lat pulldown with a rope instead of a bar: the palms face each other and the ends spread apart at the upper chest.

How to do it

Setup

Thighs under the pads, a rope on the high pulley, one end in each hand, arms long overhead.

Steps

  1. Pull the rope to the upper chest, elbows driving down.
  2. Spread the ends apart as they pass the chin.
  3. Let the rope rise to long arms with control.

Common mistakes

Ends pinched together at the chest: pull them apart; the split is what the rope adds. Leaning far back: keep a small fixed lean. Stack lifting you off the seat: thighs locked under the pads.

Breathing

Exhale on the pull, inhale on the return.
