Cable Glute Dominant Step-Up
The glute-dominant step-up with a low cable handle in one hand; the cable adds load while the forward lean keeps the glute doing the work.
How to do it
Setup
Beside a low pulley, working foot on a box, the handle in one hand, the torso leaning forward with a flat back.
Steps
- Drive through the heel on the box to straighten the working leg.
- Keep the lean and let the arm hang long with the handle.
- Lower under control; switch legs and hands after the set.
Common mistakes
Curling or rowing the handle: the arm only holds the load. Torso twisting toward the stack: keep the shoulders square. Rising to vertical: the lean is the glute's leverage.
Breathing
Exhale stepping up, inhale down.
