Bodyweight Pulse Squat

Squat to the bottom, rise a hand's width and sink back down once, then stand; the extra pulse keeps the thighs loaded at depth.

How to do it

Setup

Feet shoulder-width, arms held straight out in front.

Steps

  1. Squat down to parallel or below.
  2. Rise a hand's width and sink back to the bottom.
  3. Stand all the way up to finish the rep.

Common mistakes

Pulsing with a bounce: control both the rise and the sink. Heels lifting at the bottom: weight over the middle of the foot. Cutting the stand short: full extension between pulses.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale up.
