Cable Bent-Over Row

Hinged over facing a low pulley, a short straight bar rowed to the waist; the cable keeps the pull even from the bottom to the top.

How to do it

Setup

Facing the low pulley a step back, hinged to about 45°, back flat, the short bar held overhand.

Steps

  1. Row the bar to the waist, elbows along the body.
  2. Keep the torso angle as the stack rises.
  3. Lower to long arms with control.

Common mistakes

Straightening up as the stack rises: the hinge is the exercise. Standing so close the cable pulls straight up: step back until it pulls down and forward. Elbows flaring: along the ribs.

Breathing

Exhale on the row, inhale lowering.
