Bodyweight Standing Biceps Curl

Gripping a sturdy upright and leaning back on straight arms, curl the body in toward the hands; the closer the feet to the post, the harder each rep.

How to do it

Setup

Facing a sturdy upright, feet close to its base, both hands wrapped around it at chest height, body leaning back in one line.

Steps

  1. Bend the elbows to bring the chest toward the hands.
  2. Keep the body straight from the heels to the head.
  3. Straighten the arms slowly to lean back again.

Common mistakes

Hips folding to cheat the angle: squeeze the glutes and move as one plank. Pulling with the back instead of the arms: the elbows bend, the shoulders stay down. Dropping onto straight arms at the bottom: lower slowly under control.

Breathing

Exhale on the curl, inhale lowering.
