Bodyweight Rope Inverted Row

The inverted row holding two ropes that hang from a high bar, leaning back with the heels down; the thick, swinging ropes load the grip beside the back.

How to do it

Setup

A rope in each hand, arms straight, leaning back with the heels planted and the body in one line.

Steps

  1. Pull the chest up to the hands, elbows driving back.
  2. Squeeze the shoulder blades together at the top.
  3. Lower to straight arms, gripping the ropes hard all the way.

Common mistakes

Hands sliding down the ropes: squeeze them and set the grip before each rep. Ropes swaying apart: pull them in line with the chest. Hips sagging: brace and keep the body straight.

Breathing

Exhale on the pull, inhale on the way down.
