Battling Ropes Russian Twist
The seated Russian twist holding the two ends of a battle rope together, whipping them from hip to hip so waves run down the rope.
How to do it
Setup
Seated facing the anchor, knees bent, heels down, torso leaned back, both rope ends held together in front.
Steps
- Turn the shoulders and drive both ends down beside one hip.
- Turn straight through to the other hip without pausing.
- Keep the lean fixed and the waves even for the whole round.
Common mistakes
Swinging the rope with the arms while the chest stays still: the shoulders turn to each hip. Slumping as the round goes on: keep the spine long at the lean. Sitting too close to the anchor: shuffle back until the rope has only a little slack.
Breathing
Steady with the rhythm.
