Battle Ropes

Waves, slams or circles with heavy ropes; short intervals, because the shoulders fade first.

Battle Ropes, illustrated

How to do it

Setup

Rope ends in the hands, half-squat stance, trunk braced.

Steps

  1. Drive waves, slams or circles in short hard intervals.
  2. Keep the half-squat under the moving arms.
  3. Rest and repeat; log the session.

Common mistakes

Standing up mid-interval: the legs anchor the ropes. Long sloppy intervals: ropes reward short and violent. Arms-only waves: the whole body snaps each wave.

Breathing

Rhythmic with the waves; recover in the rests.
