Barbell Wide Pullover
The barbell pullover with the hands set wide on the bar; the wide arms travel a broader arc behind the head than the shoulder-width grip.
How to do it
Setup
Lying along a flat bench, feet planted, a wide overhand grip, the bar above the chest on nearly straight arms.
Steps
- Lower the bar behind the head in a wide arc, elbows soft.
- Stop with the bar near bench level behind the head.
- Sweep it back up until it is over the chest.
Common mistakes
Grip creeping narrower: keep the hands wide; that is the variant. Lower back arching as the bar goes back: brace and keep the ribs down. Going past a comfortable range: stop before the shoulders pinch.
Breathing
Deep inhale lowering behind the head, exhale pulling over.
