Barbell Decline Wide-Grip Pullover

The barbell pullover on nearly straight arms on a decline bench, hands wide, the bar sweeping from above the chest to behind the head and back.

How to do it

Setup

Lying on a decline bench, legs hooked under the pads, a wide overhand grip, the bar over the chest on nearly straight arms.

Steps

  1. Lower the bar in a wide arc behind the head, elbows soft.
  2. Let the lats stretch as the arms line up with the torso.
  3. Sweep the bar back up over the chest.

Common mistakes

Hands creeping toward the middle: keep the wide grip; it is the variant. Arching the lower back to reach further: ribs down, back on the bench. Dropping fast into the stretch: slow down at the bottom.

Breathing

Deep inhale lowering behind the head, exhale pulling over.
