Band Skier
Facing a high band anchor, sweep the straight arms down and back past the hips while hinging forward, like pushing off with ski poles, then rise with the arms.
How to do it
Setup
Standing facing a high band anchor, a hand on each side of the loop, arms straight up and forward, knees soft.
Steps
- Drive the straight arms down and back as the hips hinge and the knees bend.
- Finish with the hands past the hips and the torso leaning forward.
- Rise and let the band draw the arms back up.
Common mistakes
Bending the elbows into a row: the arms stay straight like poles. Rounding the back in the hinge: chest proud, back flat. Letting the band snap the arms up: rise slowly against it.
Breathing
Exhale on the downstroke, inhale on the way up.
