Barbell Seated High Front Raise

The seated barbell front raise continued past eye level to straight arms overhead, back on an upright pad.

How to do it

Setup

Back against an upright bench, feet flat, bar on the thighs in an overhand grip.

Steps

  1. Raise the bar with straight arms past eye level.
  2. Carry it overhead only as far as the ribs stay down.
  3. Lower the bar slowly back through the same arc.

Common mistakes

Arching off the pad to finish: stop where the back stays flat. Elbows bending at the top: long arms all the way. Front-raise weight: the overhead finish needs a lighter bar.

Breathing

Exhale raising, inhale lowering.
