Barbell Incline Row

Chest down on an incline bench, a barbell rowed up from a dead hang; the bench takes the lower back out of the lift.

How to do it

Setup

Chest on an incline bench, feet braced on the floor, the bar hanging below on long arms, overhand grip.

Steps

  1. Row the bar up until it nears the bench.
  2. Squeeze the blades with the chest on the pad.
  3. Lower to a full hang.

Common mistakes

Chest lifting off the bench to finish: the support is the point; lighter bar. Bar hitting the bench: row it toward the belly line. Head craning up: neck long, eyes down.

Breathing

Exhale on the row, inhale lowering.
