Barbell Front Rack Split Squat
The split squat with the bar racked across the front of the shoulders; the load in front keeps the torso upright.
How to do it
Setup
Bar on the front of the shoulders, elbows high, feet a long stride apart.
Steps
- Lower the back knee, elbows staying high.
- Keep the torso vertical under the bar.
- Drive up through the front foot.
Common mistakes
Elbows dropping: the bar rolls off the shoulders; lift them. Torso tipping forward at the bottom: stay upright under the bar. Feet on one line: set them hip-width apart, as if on two rails.
Breathing
Inhale down, exhale up.
