Barbell Front Rack Rear Lunge
The reverse lunge with the bar in the front rack instead of on the back; the front load keeps the torso upright and asks more of the upper back.
How to do it
Setup
Bar in the front rack on the shoulders, elbows high, feet hip-width.
Steps
- Reach one foot back and lower the back knee toward the floor.
- Keep the elbows up so the bar stays racked.
- Drive through the front heel back to standing.
Common mistakes
Elbows sagging in the lunge: the bar slides forward; lift them. Short step back: the front knee shoots forward; step long. Twisting the hips as the foot reaches back: keep them square.
Breathing
Inhale stepping back, exhale driving up.
