Barbell Decline Bench Lunge

A static barbell lunge with the front foot up on the sloping pad of a decline bench, so the back knee can sink lower.

How to do it

Setup

Bar on the upper back, front foot on the decline bench's pad, rear foot on the floor.

Steps

  1. Set the whole front foot where the pad is firm.
  2. Sink the back knee toward the floor, chest tall.
  3. Drive up through the front foot.

Common mistakes

Front foot sliding on the pad: set it flat and move slowly. Bar pitching forward: chest up, elbows under the bar. Bench wobbling under the foot: use a heavy, stable one.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale up.
