Band Standing Straight Leg Raise

Standing with a band from a low anchor behind you looped around one ankle, raise the straight leg forward; the long lever makes the hip flexors work harder than a knee drive.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall, a hand on a wall or support, the band from a low anchor behind looped around one ankle, standing knee soft.

Steps

  1. Raise the straight leg forward as high as the torso stays upright.
  2. Hold the top for a beat, toes pointing up.
  3. Bring the straight leg back down under control; finish the leg, switch.

Common mistakes

Bending the knee to lift higher: the leg stays straight; the lever is the point. Leaning back as the leg rises: the torso stays tall. Letting the band snap the leg back: control the whole return.

Breathing

Exhale lifting, inhale lowering.
