Front Back Leg Raises

Standing on one leg, raise the straight free leg in front, then sweep it back behind you; the hip flexors and the glute take turns.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall on one leg, hands on the hips, the free leg straight.

Steps

  1. Raise the straight leg in front to hip height.
  2. Sweep it down and back behind you.
  3. Keep the standing knee soft; switch legs after the set.

Common mistakes

Swinging the leg with momentum: raise it under control both ways. Arching the lower back as the leg goes back: stop where the pelvis stays still. Leaning the torso to lift higher: stay tall.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
