Balance Pad Single Leg Balance
Standing on one leg on a soft balance pad, the free leg bent behind and the arms out; the foam's give makes the ankle work to stay upright.
How to do it
Setup
One foot in the middle of a foam balance pad, knee soft, the other leg bent behind, arms out.
Steps
- Let the foot settle into the pad and find a still point.
- Keep the hips level as the ankle corrects the sway.
- Hold for the set, then switch legs.
Common mistakes
Standing hip dropping out to the side: keep the pelvis level. Gripping with the toes: spread them and let the ankle work. Arms flailing to save each wobble: keep them quiet and let the leg correct.
Breathing
Steady throughout; never held.
