Assisted Pulling Backs Chest Stretch

A partner behind you holds both wrists while you lean the body forward; the straight arms are drawn back and both sides of the chest stretch at once.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall, both arms straight back at shoulder height, a partner a step behind holding the wrists.

Steps

  1. Lean the whole body forward from the ankles against the partner's hold.
  2. Let the arms be drawn back until both sides of the chest stretch.
  3. Hold and breathe, then come back upright before the partner lets go.

Common mistakes

Bending at the hips instead of leaning: keep one line from the heels to the head. Leaning further than the partner can hold: agree on the depth first and go slowly. Shoulders shrugging up: keep them low as the arms go back.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
