Assisted Bulgarian Split Squat

The Bulgarian split squat with one hand on a rack; the support takes care of balance so the leg can sink deep.

How to do it

Setup

One hand on a rack's upright, rear foot on a bench, front foot a long stride out.

Steps

  1. Sink straight down to about parallel.
  2. Let the hand steady you, never pull.
  3. Drive up through the front foot.

Common mistakes

Hauling on the upright: the hand steadies, the leg lifts. Front foot too near the bench: the knee shoots past the toes; step out. Rear foot pushing off: it only rests on the bench.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale up.
