Alternate Sprinter Lunge

A reverse lunge ending in a sprinter's start, chest over the front thigh and fingertips on the floor; legs alternate.

How to do it

Setup

Feet hip-width, arms loose at the sides, room behind you.

Steps

  1. Step back and hinge forward as you lower.
  2. Touch the fingertips to the floor by the front foot.
  3. Drive up on the front leg; switch legs.

Common mistakes

Rounding to reach the floor: hinge at the hips, back flat. Front heel lifting: weight into it before the reach. Rushing back up: stand fully before the next step.

Breathing

Inhale stepping back, exhale driving up.
