Weighted Seated Triceps Extension
The seated overhead extension with one weight, such as a plate, held in both hands; the seat keeps the lower back out of it.
How to do it
Setup
Seated tall, one weight held in both hands overhead, elbows by the ears, feet planted.
Steps
- Lower the weight behind the head by bending the elbows.
- Hold the weight level so it does not tip.
- Straighten both arms above the head.
Common mistakes
Weight tipping toward the neck: grip it securely before lifting it overhead. Elbows flaring wide: bring them in. Slumping on the seat: sit tall, ribs down.
Breathing
Inhale lowering, exhale extending.
