Weighted Sandbag Shouldering

Lift a sandbag from the floor between the feet and load it onto one shoulder in one move, then return it to the floor.

How to do it

Setup

Wide stance over a sandbag, squat down and grip it underneath, back flat.

Steps

  1. Stand up hard, pulling the bag up the body.
  2. Drop under it and turn it onto one shoulder.
  3. Lower it back to the floor; load the other shoulder next.

Common mistakes

Lifting with a round back: squat down to the bag and keep the chest up. Curling it with the arms: the hips drive it up. Letting it crash to the floor: guide it down.

Breathing

Big breath at the floor, exhale as the bag lands on the shoulder.
