Kettlebell Alternating Hang Clean

Two bells hang in front of the thighs and are cleaned to the rack one at a time; a short hip drive from the hang lifts each.

How to do it

Setup

Feet hip-width, a bell hanging in each hand in front of the thighs, knees soft, chest up.

Steps

  1. Hinge back until the bells reach the tops of the knees.
  2. Snap the hips through and guide ONE bell close to the body into the rack.
  3. Lower it back to the hang and clean the other one.

Common mistakes

Pulling with the biceps instead of snapping the hips: the arm steers, the hips lift. Bell crashing onto the forearm in the rack: turn the hand around the handle early and keep the bell close. Hanging bell swinging while the other rises: hold it still against the thigh.

Breathing

Inhale in the hinge, exhale on the catch.
