Weighted Russian Twist (Legs Up)
The weighted Russian twist with the legs held long and straight just off the floor, which makes the balance and the brace harder.
How to do it
Setup
Seated, leaned back, a plate held at the chest in both hands, legs straight and hovering just off the floor.
Steps
- Turn the shoulders to one side, the plate traveling with them.
- Come back through the middle with the legs still hovering.
- Turn to the other side without letting the heels touch down.
Common mistakes
Heels dropping to the floor between turns: bend the knees a little rather than rest them. Plate swinging on the arms: the shoulders turn and the plate rides along. Lower back rounding as the legs tire: sit tall through the lean.
Breathing
Exhale on each twist.
