TRX Single-Leg Split Squat (Self-Assisted)

The TRX split squat holding an upright post in front; the hands take a little weight and all of the balance.

How to do it

Setup

Rear foot in the cradle behind, both hands on a post at chest height.

Steps

  1. Sink straight down as the rear foot swings back.
  2. Let the hands steady you, not lift you.
  3. Drive up through the front heel.

Common mistakes

Pulling on the post to stand: the grip steadies, the leg lifts. Kicking the rear foot back: let the cradle ride back slowly. Stopping high: sink until the back knee nears the floor.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale driving up.
