Trap Bar Jump Squat
The jump squat holding a loaded trap bar at the sides; the handles keep the load at the hips, so the jump stays close to a deadlift's line.
How to do it
Setup
Standing inside a lightly loaded trap bar, feet hip-width, the handles gripped with the back flat.
Steps
- Dip by bending the knees and hips, back flat.
- Jump up, the bar traveling with you at arm's length.
- Land softly and let the dip absorb the bar before the next jump.
Common mistakes
Loading the bar like a deadlift: light enough to jump fast. Rounding the back in the dip: hinge with a flat back. Letting the plates crash to the floor between jumps: absorb the landing in the legs.
Breathing
Exhale on the jump, inhale landing.
