Straight Leg Hip Bridge

Lying flat with straight legs, press the heels into the floor to lift the hips a hand's height; a short bridge that leans on the hamstrings.

How to do it

Setup

On your back, legs straight and together, heels on the floor, arms by the sides.

Steps

  1. Dig the heels into the floor and lift the hips off it.
  2. Hold the top with the glutes squeezed and the knees straight.
  3. Lower the hips back to the floor slowly.

Common mistakes

Bending the knees to get higher: the straight legs are the point; the range is short. Lifting with the lower back: tilt the pelvis up first, then lift. Heels sliding: press them down, not away.

Breathing

Exhale driving up, inhale lowering.
