Machine Belt Romanian Deadlift

The Romanian deadlift on a belt squat machine, the load pulling on a belt around the hips; the arms rest crossed, so the grip and upper back are out of it.

How to do it

Setup

Belt low on the hips and clipped to the lever, standing on the platform facing the machine, arms crossed on the chest, knees soft.

Steps

  1. Send the hips back against the belt, torso tipping forward.
  2. Stop when the backs of the thighs pull, back flat.
  3. Stand tall by bringing the hips back under the belt.

Common mistakes

Belt clipped high on the waist: set it low across the hips. Sitting into a squat: the knees stay soft, the hips travel back. Rounding once the arms are out of it: the chest stays proud through the whole hinge.

Breathing

Inhale hinging, exhale standing.
