Standing Lateral Side Stretch

The side bend held instead of repeated: one hand slides down the outer thigh and the opposite side of the waist lengthens.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall, feet hip-width, arms long at the sides.

Steps

  1. Bend straight sideways, sliding one hand down the outer thigh.
  2. Stop where the opposite side of the waist stretches and hold, hips level.
  3. Rise slowly to upright and switch sides.

Common mistakes

Leaning forward as you bend: stay in one plane. Hips shifting out to the side: keep them over the feet so the waist, not the hips, bends. Bouncing at the bottom: settle and hold.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
