Stability Ball Wall Squat

Press a stability ball to the wall with your back, arms crossed at the chest; squat until the thighs are parallel (a low block can mark the depth) and stand back up.

Stability Ball Wall Squat, illustrated

How to do it

Setup

Pin the ball between your lower back and the wall, feet a step ahead of the hips; arms crossed at the chest.

Steps

  1. Squat until the thighs are parallel, the ball rolling up the spine.
  2. Keep steady pressure into the ball.
  3. Drive back up through the heels.

Common mistakes

Feet under the hips: the knees dive forward; step them out. Losing the ball's pressure: lean back into it the whole rep. Cutting depth: parallel is the target; a low block can mark it.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale up.
