Kettlebell Squat Pulse

Hold the kettlebell between your legs and pulse fast in the bottom half of the squat: the kettlebell rises about a hand's width off the floor and the knees never straighten, so the thighs stay under tension the whole set. Timed, not counted.

How to do it

Setup

Feet shoulder-width, kettlebell hanging in both hands; sit into a deep squat.

Steps

  1. Pulse up and down in the bottom half – the bell rises about a hand's width.
  2. Keep the heels planted and the chest up.
  3. Stay in the pulse for the whole set, no standing between reps.

Common mistakes

Standing up between pulses: the tension resets; stay low. Bouncing off the bottom: reverse smoothly, no rebound. Weight rolling to the toes: keep mid-foot pressure.

Breathing

Short steady breaths in rhythm with the pulses; never held.
