Stability Ball Lying Side Lat Stretch

Lying sideways over a stability ball, reach the top arm long overhead; the ball bends the side open and the lat lengthens.

How to do it

Setup

Side-lying over the ball, the ball under the waist, feet staggered wide on the floor.

Steps

  1. Reach the top arm overhead, the side draped over the ball.
  2. Keep the chest facing forward.
  3. Hold, then push up with the lower hand and switch sides.

Common mistakes

Feet close together: stagger them wide or the ball rolls away. Chest rolling toward the floor: stay side-on. Flopping onto the ball: lower onto it and leave it slowly.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
