Split Squat Heel Raise
Hold the bottom of a split squat and raise and lower the front heel; the calf of the bent front leg works while the thighs hold the lunge.
How to do it
Setup
A split stance, hands on the hips, the back foot on its toes.
Steps
- Lower into the split squat until the back knee is near the floor.
- Hold the depth and raise the front heel, then lower it again.
- Stand up after the heel raises and repeat, then switch legs.
Common mistakes
Rising out of the lunge as the heel lifts: the hips stay low; only the heel moves. Front knee drifting inward on the raise: keep it over the middle toes. Rushing the raises: lift and lower the heel slowly.
Breathing
Breathe steadily through the heel raises, exhale standing up.
