Sled Vertical Leg Press

The leg press lying on the back under a vertical sled: the plate travels straight up and down above the hips.

How to do it

Setup

Lying on the back under the sled, hips right below the plate, feet shoulder-width on it.

Steps

  1. Unlock the sled and lower it until the knees near the chest.
  2. Keep the tailbone on the pad; stop where it would curl up.
  3. Press the plate straight up without locking the knees.

Common mistakes

Lowering onto a curled lower back: stop before the tailbone lifts. Feet low on the plate: the heels lift; set them mid-plate. Knees locked under the load: stop just short of straight.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale pressing.
