Sled Lying Single-Leg Squat

The lying machine squat done one leg at a time: one foot on the plate, the other at rest, so each thigh moves the stack alone.

How to do it

Setup

Lying on the machine's bench, head and hips down, one foot mid-plate, the other leg bent and relaxed.

Steps

  1. Bend the knee toward the chest as far as the hips stay flat.
  2. Press the plate away through the whole foot.
  3. Stop just short of a locked knee; finish the set, then switch legs.

Common mistakes

Hips peeling off the bench at depth: stop where they stay down. Pushing through the toes: the whole foot drives the plate. Snapping the knee straight: stop just short of lockout.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale pressing.
