Sled Lying Squat

Lying on the back in a vertical sled machine, the feet on a platform above the hips; the legs press the platform up and lower it, the spine unloaded.

How to do it

Setup

Lying on the machine's pad, the hips under the platform, feet on it shoulder-width.

Steps

  1. Release the stops and press the platform up until the legs are nearly straight.
  2. Lower it slowly until the knees are near 90°.
  3. Press again; set the stops before you get out.

Common mistakes

Hips lifting off the pad at the bottom: stop the lowering earlier. Locking the knees at the top: stop just short. Getting out with the stops open: close them first.

Breathing

Exhale pressing, inhale returning.
