Sitting Floor Tibialis Raise

Seated on the floor hugging one knee, lift the other leg straight off the floor with the toes pulled back; the hip flexors lift and the front of the shin holds the foot.

How to do it

Setup

Seated tall on the floor, one knee bent and hugged to the chest, the other leg long, toes pulled toward you.

Steps

  1. Lift the straight leg off the floor as high as the locked knee allows.
  2. Keep the toes pulled back at the top.
  3. Lower slowly until the heel touches; switch legs after the set.

Common mistakes

Leaning back to get the leg higher: sit tall against the hugged knee. Knee bending on the way up: lock it; a lower lift beats a bent one. Toes pointing away: pull them back so the shin works too.

Breathing

Exhale lifting, inhale lowering.
