Sitting Bent-Over Back Stretch

Seated, legs about 45° apart, let the head and chest sink forward; a loose fold for the back, not a reach for the toes.

How to do it

Setup

On the floor, legs straight and about 45° apart, toes up, hands resting in the lap.

Steps

  1. Let the head drop and the chest fold forward.
  2. Let the back round, hands sliding along the legs.
  3. Hold and breathe, then roll up slowly, head last.

Common mistakes

Reaching hard for the toes: that turns it into a hamstring stretch; let the back hang. Bouncing lower: sink slowly and wait. Holding the breath: each exhale lets the back sag further.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
