Sit-Up (On Stability Ball)
The sit-up over a stability ball: from a stretch across the ball all the way to upright, where the ball crunch stops short.
How to do it
Setup
Lying back over the ball with its top under the lower back, feet wide on the floor, arms crossed on the chest.
Steps
- Let the back follow the curve of the ball until the abs stretch.
- Sit up all the way until the torso is upright over the hips.
- Lower back over the ball slowly, keeping it still under you.
Common mistakes
Ball rolling toward the feet as you rise: plant the feet wider and slow down. Throwing the arms forward to get up: keep them crossed on the chest. Dropping back onto the ball: lower as slowly as you rise.
Breathing
Exhale sitting up, inhale lowering.
