Sissy Squat
Holding the top of an incline bench with one hand, rise onto the toes and lean back in one line as the knees travel forward and down toward the floor.
How to do it
Setup
Standing beside an incline bench, one hand on the top of its back pad, the other on the chest, feet hip-width.
Steps
- Rise onto the toes and push the knees forward.
- Lean back as you sink, one line from the knees to the head.
- Lower until the knees near the floor, then rise with the quads.
Common mistakes
Hips folding as you sink: keep them open so the knees take the travel. Pulling yourself up on the bench: the hand only steadies; the quads lift. Going to full depth on day one: the knees carry this; build the range over weeks.
Breathing
Inhale leaning back, exhale rising.
