Shrug (on Parallel Bars)
In a straight-arm support on parallel bars, let the body sink as the shoulders rise to the ears, then press the shoulders down to lift it tall again.
How to do it
Setup
Supported on the parallel bars with the arms locked, body upright, legs hanging, shoulders pressed down.
Steps
- Let the body sink slowly as the shoulders rise toward the ears.
- Press the shoulders down hard to lift the body tall.
- Hold the top for a beat, arms locked.
Common mistakes
Bending the elbows: that is a dip; the arms stay locked. Dropping into the bottom fast: sink slowly, the shoulders under control. Swinging the legs to lift: they hang still.
Breathing
Exhale pressing the shoulders down, inhale sinking.
